Packaging Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Funky Buddha Brewery, located in Oakland Park, Florida, is seeking a full-time Packaging Supervisor to join its growing team. Established in 2010 at its Boca Raton brewpub, Funky Buddha is known for pushing the boundaries of traditional brewing methods. Position Summary

The Packaging Supervisor oversees and leads the 2nd shift packaging team, ensuring all production goals are met safely, efficiently, and with the highest quality standards. This role reports to the Packaging Manager and functions as the primary point of leadership for the shift, independently managing operations, personnel, and workflow handoff to and from the 1st shift.

The ideal candidate is organized, mechanically inclined, and committed to maintaining a culture of accountability and teamwork. This person will play a key role in process optimization, training, and communication, helping the department run smoothly across shifts.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead all packaging operations during the 2nd shift.
• Ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operation of all packaging equipment.
• Coordinate with the Packaging Manager to meet production schedules and targets.
• Train, coach, and develop packaging team members; reinforce SOP adherence and safety standards.
• Oversee shift startup, changeovers, and shutdown procedures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical or process issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Perform or assist with equipment maintenance and Clean-in-Place (CIP) activities.
• Monitor product quality, including seam checks, carbonation, dissolved oxygen, and fill heights.
• Manage and maintain accurate packaging logs, inventory tracking, and daily shift reports.
• Communicate effectively with the Packaging Manager and other departments (Brewing, Operations, Inventory) for smooth coordination between shifts.
• Identify and suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
• Ensure adequate supply of materials (cans, cartons, labels, consumables) for continuous operation.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment compliant with OSHA and company standards.
• Uphold Funky Buddha’s policies, safety procedures, and quality expectations.
• Assist with performance feedback and accountability for shift employees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience on a beverage packaging line.
• 1+ year of supervisory or lead experience preferred.
• Experience operating fillers, conveyance systems, and high-speed packaging equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude; understanding of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and communicate effectively across departments.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Passion for craft beverages and maintaining product quality.
• Ability to lead a team with professionalism, integrity, and consistency.
• Forklift operation or certification preferred.
• Flexible availability for nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
• Capable of lifting and moving up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
• Willingness to work in hot, cold, wet, or loud environments.
• Ability to safely work with chemicals and mechanical equipment.
