Brewer / Cellar / Forklift Operator

POSITION OVERVIEW

Barrel One Collective (B1C), the parent company of Harpoon is seeking a highly motivated professional to join our Vermont Production team. The Brewer/Cellar/Forklift Operator will be responsible for many of the day-to-day activities necessary to make high-quality beer.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Cellar Operations

• Start-up and shut-down of facility processes
• CIP, CUP, and sanitizing of fermenters and BB tanks, lines, and yeast brinks
• Performing gravity reads and dry hopping of fermenters; accurate documentation
• Yeast cell counts and pitching
• Racking kegs
• Daily operation of filtration equipment and procedures
• Cleaning and sanitizing filtration equipment and lines
• Preparing cellar systems for daily start-up

Brewhouse Operations

• Responsible for all aspects of wort production and related processes
• Start-up and shut-down of facility processes
• Milling and hop/antifoam/spice additions
• Obtaining samples needed for the lab
• Maintaining turbidity, CO2, and O2 levels within product specifications
• Performing dilution and flavor checks
• Maintaining brewhouse vessels in tour-worthy condition

Forklift Duties

• Handling and disposition of materials and tracking warehouse inventory
• Loading and unloading materials from trailers
• Moving pallets or materials on pallets/crates around the facility
• Stacking pallets or materials in the correct manner and following inventory control instructions
• Checking to ensure loads are secure
• Building pallets when necessary
• Basic understanding of forklift functionality
• Ability to load bay and maneuver in/out of cooler/warehouse
• Ability to load can line with raw material and unload full goods from line

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of 2 years experience in brewing/manufacturing
• Ability to multitask and adjust to changing priorities
• Flexibility to work varied shifts is key – shifts vary
• Proper use of PPE
• Mechanical aptitude
• Attention to detail is required for this role
• Forklift certification a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at shoulder height
• Prolonged standing
• Ability to work over, under, and around potentially dangerous/moving machinery in small spaces
• Ability to withstand various temperatures and weather conditions
• Comfortability working at heights and using stairs repeatedly
