Role & Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of wort processing on our 30 BBL brewhouse: grain handling, milling, mashing, lautering, spent grain handling, boiling, wort clarification, wort cooling, yeast pitching in adherence to SOP
- Set up, sanitize (SIP), and clean in place (CIP) daily fermenting vessels
- Perform brewhouse equipment CIPs
- Perform occasional cellar tasks such as fermenter vessel CIPs, yeast dumps, dry hopping, and centrifuge operations
- Perform gravity readings and other QC checks
- Record and input batch brewhouse, cellar, and packaging data in electronic tracking programs
- Record and input batch raw material usage and volumes in enterprise resource programs
- Interacting with brewery vendors and contractors
- Identify any wort processing issues; recommending, implementing, and communicating to brewing team any corrective actions needed
- Participate in sales & marketing events such as beer dinners, tastings, and festivals as needed
- Assist in recipe development/special projects as needed
- Ensure daily cleaning and organization tasks pertaining to the brewhouse production areas
- Participate in weekly sensory panels
- Adhere to company occupational compliance programs and procedures
- Communicate in a clear and timely fashion via email/text/phone, when necessary
- Assist in barrel aging program tasks when necessary
Requirements:
- 3+ years’ experience in commercial production brewing applications
- Proficient knowledge of brewing science
- Must be prompt, reliable, efficient, and durable
- Must be mechanically inclined
- Ability to maintain an organized, clean, and sanitary work environment
- Must possess strong communication skills
- Ability to consistently lift 55 pounds and maneuver 160 pounds with assistance
- Proficient understanding of Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP software interfacing a plus
- Undivided attention to details, both big and small
- Accurate and detailed record keeping
- Physically able to be quick on your feet all day
- Ability to work long hours including nights and weekends when necessary
- Proper handling of hazardous materials and operation of complex moving machinery
- Willingness to participate in company events and promotions both at and outside the brewery
- Forklift certified or willingness to become forklift certified
