Brewer

Description: Rally Cap Brewing Company is a production brewery located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with a pizza kitchen and a sizable Taproom business.  We’re passionate about great beer and great food, and are looking for someone who shares these passions and would like to become an essential part of our brewing team. This position would be responsible for executing any and all brewing functions on our 15 BBL brewhouse as well as our 1 BBL pilot system.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• The complete brewing process from milling to wort production, to fermentation and filtration.
• Cleaning and sanitizing tanks, cleaning the outsides of vessels, cleaning floors, and maintaining the appearance of the brewhouse and cellar.
• Cellar management including yeast pitching, daily fermentation tracking, dry-hopping, and carbonating.
• Packaging, including kegging and canning.
• Cleaning of kegs.
• Close adherence to all policies and safety procedures, as provided.
• Upholding and advancing our quality standards.
• Accurately completing all SOPS.
• Perform other jobs as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

• A fundamental knowledge of the brewing process
• The ability to read, understand and follow verbal directions
• The ability to read, understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
• The ability to troubleshoot and be able to make repairs as necessary.
• Ability to climb and descend ladders, occasionally work at heights, as well as in confined spaces
• A strong work ethic and the ability to multi-task
• Solid problem solving skills
• The ability to work well independently, as well as part of a team
• Good communication skills
• Flexibility to do whatever it takes to get the job done right
• Good Computer Skills
• Be able to obtain Fork Lift Certification

Qualification & Education Requirements:

• A High School Diploma or GED
• Prior experience working in a Commercial Production Brewery or Brew Pub
• A formal brewing education is preferred
• Physical Demands – The Brewer must be able to:
  • Frequently stand for the duration of the shift, walk, bend over, twist, kneel, climb, stoop and crouch. This position requires the ability to routinely and repeatedly lift up to 55 pounds and occasionally maneuver up to 170 pounds.
  • Use their hands to perform fine manipulation, handle or feel, and must be able to reach with hands and arms.
  • Identify product deficiencies (color, smell, taste). This requires having close, distance, color and peripheral vision as well as depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• This position requires proper handling of hazardous materials and operation of complex moving machinery.

Compensation will be based upon prior experience.
